Three Steps to Improve Your World

Each September, the“11 Days of Global Unity” festival brings people of all faiths together to celebrate their common heritage as citizens of the Earth. You can honor your personal oneness with the planet every day by taking time to:
  1. Find happiness in giving, not getting. Excessive consumerism contributes to unfair labor practices, climate change, political unrest and a host of other ills that harm humanity. Instead of shopping, head to a nursing home, soup kitchen, public park – or your child's playroom.
  2. Look out for more than just #1. In an interdependent world, your actions have the power to impact people and places you don't even know. So make a sea turtle a little safer: Say no to plastic bags and yes to reusable totes.
  3. Practice listening. More problems are solved through thoughtful, empathetic dialogue than by crossfire debates. There are more than two sides to any issue. Hear them out.
The nonprofit organization We, The World launched “11 Days of Global Unity” in 2004 as an annual worldwide promotion of peace and environmental sustainability. In 2008 Unity Village, the Association of Unity Churches International, and the Association for Global New Thought will join in this celebration of oneness with hundreds of other organizations under the We, The World umbrella.
