Unity.FM, Unity's online radio network, which broadcasts from Unity Village, is expanding its lineup to 33 programs as of this week. Hosted by a variety of Unity ministers and New Thought leaders, the programs—most live and some prerecorded—explore topics that help listeners achieve higher consciousness, empowered living and personal transformation. Each episode is available as a free download accessible anytime, and new episodes are broadcast weekly.
The network has been growing steadily since its incipience three years ago and is now serving listeners in more than 115 countries around the globe. All programs are available free online at www.unity.fm.
Below are profiles of three programs, which joined the network in the spring of 2010.
Conscious Content–Airs Fridays at 1 p.m. (CT)
This weekly dialogue is hosted by Jun Mhoon and features Revs. Richard Billings and Helice Greene. The program is designed to help listeners deepen their spiritual understanding by exploring Unity principles and conscious living.
For many people, Mhoon says, Unity and New Thought principles are very different from the beliefs they've experienced in more traditional churches. As a result, living in true consciousness sometimes feels intimidating or frightening. “I offer listeners [an opportunity] to better understand Unity principles, as well as hear [from other people] with the same issues,” he says. “I spent almost 35 years in an unconscious state and didn't know it. So I decided to seek out people and discuss the [conscious] content in their lives.” As a layperson on a spiritual path, Mhoon invites listeners to join him in asking co-hosts Revs. Richard Billings and Helice Greene how to live in true consciousness day to day.
Fun, Fabulous and Free–Airs Tuesdays at 4 p.m. (CT)
Hosted by Rev. Aliza Bloom, this program profiles real people who have taken transformative leaps in their lives, personally and professionally. Each week, listeners are offered tools to help them live their best life.
Bloom, a minister at Unity Center Austin, says hosting the show has been a great experience. On the program, she interviews someone who has a “fabulous” life. “I'm always looking for fun and engaging ways to bring spiritual principles to light. I think most of us are intrigued by the idea of being fun, fabulous and free!”
After learning what makes her guests' lives “fab,” Bloom draws attention to a turning point, decision or event in each person's life, which brought about a shift and allowed him or her to live more consciously. “We always offer a ‘take away' principle or tool. [I look for a] ‘fab' factor or fun factor that listeners can implement in their [own] lives right away,” says Bloom.
Music Speaks Louder Than Words–Airs Thursdays at 3 p.m. (CT)
Host Dale Worley inspires and informs listeners with songs and adventures from popular New Thought musicians. This program features an hour of heartfelt music and commentary and includes listener dedications as well as personal stories of transformation through music.
According to Worley, music speaks in a unique way that opens the heart and lifts the soul. Through his program, he is able to share his talents as a pianist and singer, his love of music, and to give other singers and musicians an opportunity to be heard.
“Not only are we offering music with a positive spiritual message,” says Worley, “Music Speaks also gives listeners familiar with positive music an intimate look at some of their favorite artists through personal interviews. It also provides a way for listeners to learn about the variety of musical styles that comprise the positive music genre.”
Worley appreciates the opportunity to contribute to Unity's global outreach through his show. “I believe the Unity message can help shift global consciousness and I am excited to be part of that shift by joining the Unity.FM team. It is stretching me and helping me grow and deepen my awareness of the importance of using my gifts in service to others.”
