Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, identified 12 spiritual abilities perfectly expressed by Jesus, which are also present in each one of us. Fillmore called them the Twelve Powers. Unity is designating 2010 “The Year of the Twelve Powers.” This article is one of the many inspirational materials featured this month as part of our Twelve Powers Resource Center.

It is December, the last month on Unity's Twelve Powers journey for 2010. Life is the spiritual Power this month. One might expect to look at the birth of the baby Jesus. Instead, I'd rather explore one of Jesus' disciples—Judas—as he is the disciple most associated with the Power of Life.
There is a bit of irony in exploring Judas the same month that we celebrate the birth of Jesus—our Way Shower. Judas was known for betraying Jesus. But if one stops to explore the story metaphysically, it becomes apparent that Judas represents the choice point in life.
Life offers us continuous choices. One can choose to live life from faith or from fear. Everyone from time to time has betrayed the Christ presence within by holding negative and destructive thoughts and feelings. Do you have faith that everything in life is Good and True? The story of Judas shows us that we have a fresh start with every breath we take. There is always a choice to stretch ourselves to the highest consciousness we can be.
In these economic times that appear to be unstable, many people have a perception of shortage. However, by going within, you will know at the deepest level that there is never any lack in life.
Life flows in the direction of our desires, the direction of our faith. Life flows with ease and grace when one quickens all of the other powers we have explored this year—Faith, Strength, Wisdom, Love, Power, Imagination, Understanding, Will, Order, Zeal and Release.
One can never be cut off or separate from the flow of Life. It can appear that the flow is blocked, but Life constantly moves and expands with our consciousness. That is so exciting to me! I can always begin again. I am always loved beyond measure. I am always shifting, moving, growing and expanding in consciousness.
I invite you to celebrate this season of the Christ presence with such joy that you do not even notice what you or others may or may not have. Instead, choose to see and deeply appreciate all that Life currently offers and all that the future holds.
Fully express your appreciation for everything and everyone in your life with such zeal that gifts won't even be noticed. Have a joy-filled year as you open to the Life and the Love that you already are. And get ready for 2011, as next year Unity will celebrate The Year of Abundant Living!
