HeartMath Founding Member to Present at Unity People's Convention

By Lysa Allman-Baldwin

Howard Martin, a founding member of HeartMath, is one of the many inspiring speakers who will present at the 2011 Unity People's Convention hosted by Unity Worldwide Ministries June 13–17, 2011.

The Institute of HeartMath is an internationally recognized nonprofit research and education organization dedicated to helping people reduce stress, self-regulate emotions, and build energy and resilience for healthy, happy lives. HeartMath tools, technology and training teach people to rely on the intelligence of their hearts in concert with their minds at home, school, work and play.

Activating Your Heart's Intelligence
Executive vice president of HeartMath, Martin has spent many years delivering the HeartMath message around the globe. “Heart is really the source of intelligence within us, within the human system. And intelligence comes in many ways—physical, emotional, spiritual,” he says. “The science that we've done at HeartMath … gives the head permission to believe in the heart. It also offers practical ways to better navigate life and all of the new information [which comes at us] during these changing times, in a manner that facilitates rather than drains us.”

Martin is the author of The HeartMath Solution and The HeartMath Method, an audio learning program that helps foster a new understanding of heart … physically, mentally and emotionally.

A dynamic speaker, Martin has delivered hundreds of workshops and keynote addresses to thousands of participants worldwide, ranging from corporations to the armed forces, educators, families, ecumenical organizations and human service providers.

At the 2011 People's Convention, Martin will help attendees bridge the gap between science, spirituality and health by offering ways to create more global coherence in the world through our thoughts, intentions, prayers and affirmations.

“Science and spirituality are often perceived as being in competition with each other, but they don't really have to be,” Martin explains. “Science is evolving and is sometimes bigger than we can get our arms around, but there are pieces [of scientific knowledge that] we have intuitively known. In this way science adds an understanding that reinforces belief [through which] a new understanding of reality can emerge.”

According to Martin, there are already several significant and historic examples of a global desire to experience the connection between spirituality and health. “Silent Unity, the myriad societies for world prayer and peace, and the thousands of other heart-centered organizations around the world clearly demonstrate that human emotion—what we pray for, think, feel and focus on—whether positive or negative, has an impact in our world. To me, emotion is the next frontier in human evolution.”
