“Christ in me quickens my faculty of renunciation. The activity of Spirit cleanses my mind of limited and false beliefs, making room for greater understanding and newness of life. I am grateful.”—Charles Roth
Fall is in full swing as the leaves change color and fall from the trees—a sure sign that winter is coming. The trees become so vibrant and smell so sweet just before they release the leaves that have served them so faithfully throughout the spring and summer. The leaves have “done their job” and the trees know when it is time to let them fall away.
There is no regret or upset involved in this process of release. The trees need to conserve their energy during winter, so they slow down all of their processes until spring.
The Power this month is often called by different names: Release, Elimination or Renunciation. In Unity, we understand that elimination or renunciation is the release of old beliefs and negative thoughts that no longer serve us.
Just as the trees let go of the leaves, we can each release thoughts and habits that keep us bound in fear, regret, sadness and a host of other emotions that no longer serve our best interest. We, too, can conserve our energy for the processes that lead us toward a higher purpose and more spiritually oriented awareness.
Elimination is the power that helps us “keep the high watch.” By quickening this power, we can observe the parts of our lives that we perceive to be negative. By observing them, rather than being victimized by them, we are more able to make choices about our thoughts and feelings. It becomes easier to release or eliminate them.
This month I encourage you to look at what habits or thoughts you are ready to release.
Be like the trees and let them simply fall away!
