Join us for the second annual spiritual and educational journey supporting Unity Institute ® and Seminary!** This year we are setting sail for the eastern Mediterranean with Unity friends—including Unity Institute® Dean Ted Collins—aboard Holland America Lines' five-star flagship cruiser, the Nieuw Amsterdam.
Your 12-day guided tour includes spiritual insights from Unity minister Mark Fuss, exploring modern cities coexisting with relics of ancient empires. Visit fascinating ports of call, including:
• Kusadasi, Turkey (Ancient Ephesus)
Trace the footsteps of the apostle Paul on his missionary journey.
• Istanbul, Turkey (formerly Byzantium and Constantinople)
Go where many religious crusades were fought, leading this city through transformations from Christianity to Catholicism, and eventually Islam.
• Athens, Greece
Explore one of the world's oldest cities, and discover its many connections to New Thought philosophy.
This once-in-a-lifetime journey includes time for relaxing and meditating, as well as shopping, sunning and sightseeing in the seaside villages of Kotor, Montenegro; Split, Croatia; and on the Greek islands of Santorini and Mykonos. Enjoy group dinners, excursions and prayer. Or, create a schedule that works for you.
Optional shore excursions are available for an additional cost. Along with scheduled onboard Unity activities, consider joining Dean Ted Collins and Rev. Mark Fuss on specially arranged group shore excursions to delve deeper into the spiritual and historical connections each port has to offer. Dean Ted and Rev. Mark especially recommend purchasing the shore trip programs in Athens, Istanbul, Kusadasi and Santorini.

Ted Collins, Dean, Unity Institute ® & Seminary
About Ted…I serve as Vice President of Education and Events at Unity Village. This role includes holding the illustrious title of Dean of Unity Institute and Seminary and teaching at the Institute. I also host two radio shows on Unity Online Radio. In my world away from work, I am a single dad of three daughters (and two dogs), have an active theater life on the stage and as president of a local community theater and love to travel.
Role on the ship…Aboard the ship, I will serve with Mark and Arie to make this a smooth, fun and unforgettable journey.
Not leaving home without…Besides my iPhone, I will absolutely be bringing my new camera purchased just for this cruise. Although I've traveled to Europe many times, this is first trip I've taken to Croatia, Turkey and Greece, and I want to make sure I have lots of pictures to remember the many fascinating sites!
Why is this cruise important to UI? This trip is a very special one for Unity institute because it represents a commitment to educate and enlighten others about the many ties Unity teachings share with various cultures and religions. Unity recognizes the common threads in so many beliefs held around the world and these annual trips, like last year's journey to Egypt, allow us to personally see and experience our deep connections with each other.
Rev. Mark Fuss, Admissions Representative, Unity Institute ® & Seminary
About Mark…As an admissions representative and a Unity minister, I work with those interested in becoming teachers and ministers helping to guide them through the process and along the path to ministry. I am also a writer for Unity Magazine and unity.org. You can find me speaking and singing at Unity centers in the region. I enjoy traveling, cooking, music and reading good sci-fi.
Role on the ship…Think of Ted and me as your cruise directors. Our job is to make sure you have a memorable experience. We will have opportunities for fellowship, Daily Word meditations and explorations of the ancient empires and their connection to Unity teachings and to each other. We will mine the historical, biblical, musical and cultural connections as we travel together.
Not leaving home without…my iPod. I'm having a great time exploring the music of Italy, Turkey and Greece and look forward to sharing some with you!
Why the Eastern Mediterranean? You'll experience multiple interconnected cultures, stunning scenery and historical sites, great food, music and fun, all in the company of Unity friends. Really, where else will you find this mix of cultures? From the beauty of Venice to the temples of Athens to the mosques of Istanbul – not to mention cruising the Greek Islands and sampling the hospitality of Montenegro and Croatia. All this in one amazing trip of a lifetime and all while sleeping in the same bed!
Arie Boris, Editor-in-Chief, CruiseGourmet.com Magazine
About Arie…A restaurant critic and travel writer for more than 25 years, my love of travel, food and grand old ocean liners started when I was a kid. After contributing to various publications over the years, I started CruiseGourmet.com Magazine in 2001. Ever since, I have been sailing the Seven Seas as Editor-in-Chief of my very own online travel publication and helping to produce fundraising cruises for nonprofit organizations. I love attending Unity services each Sunday and enjoy visiting Unity churches wherever my travels take me.
Role on the ship…I will serve as your tour conductor. As such, I will act as your group liaison with the cruise ship staff to ensure your cruise experience is everything it should be. I will help Ted and Mark coordinate our group activities, optional shore trips and if you have any cruise related questions or problems during the trip, I will be there to resolve them.
What's unique about this cruise? This is an opportunity to approach a new travel adventure with the added value of a spiritual perspective and sharing that experience with new friends.
