Tips for a Successful Seminary Sunday
One to three months in advance of your Seminary Sunday:
- Invite a Unity Institute faculty member or student to speak or share in your Sunday service. Contact Rev. Mark Fuss or call 816-251-3535, Ext.2110 to arrange a speaker.
- Consider starting a dialogue on spiritual education and leadership in your adult education classes and study groups. Possible discussion questions include:
• What does spiritual education look like?
• What does it mean to be called to ministry?
• Have you known someone on the path to Unity ministry?
• Who are the important spiritual teachers and leaders on your path?
• What are some of the ways we can encourage and support future ministers and leaders from within our spiritual community? - Ask ministers or licensed Unity teachers to talk to children's classes about their spiritual education.
One month in advance of your Seminary Sunday:
- Download and print the Unity Institute poster and About Unity flyer and post them on your bulletin boards—or link them to your church website.
- Include a statement from the Unity Institute student testimonials in your church bulletin on three different Sundays prior to your Seminary Sunday event.
- If persons in your church or study center have been called to spiritual leadership and have attended Unity Institute, post their pictures and encourage them to write a letter to your congregation regarding their experiences.
- Post the date of Seminary Sunday on your church's Facebook page and encourage online “friends” to share their experiences at Unity Institute or Unity Village.
- If you use Twitter, tweet the date of your event.
On the day of your Seminary Sunday:
- Include the Thank You insert in your bulletin, and post it to your website and church Facebook page.
- Review the Donation Instructions.
