About the Course

This is an introduction to the metaphysical interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures in the Unity framework. Students will begin to understand and interpret the Hebrew Scriptures from a metaphysical viewpoint. The chief aim is that each student gains the knowledge and skill to interpret scripture. They will learn to apply the teachings of the Hebrew Scriptures to their lives.

This class introduces the Bible in its inner or spiritual meaning as a record of the experiences and the development of the human soul and the whole being of man. The Scriptures are unveiled through individual metaphysical interpretation of the names of people, places and things, numbers, archetypes and any other symbols, etc., as they are connected with the activity of humankind. By studying these symbols we open to our inner guidance for our spiritual journey of self-discovery and learning.

Learning Objectives

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

Identify and metaphysically interpret the main Hebrew Scripture characters and themes.
Explain metaphysical approach to interpretation and know how to use the process so that the student can metaphysically interpret a story on their own.
Relate the metaphysical interpretation of Hebrew Scriptures to your personal spiritual journey.
Describe a situation in which you have identified with a Hebrew character and/or theme.
