Unity Institute®
General Information
Unity Institute offers two programs: the Master of Divinity and Diploma in Unity Ministry. Each program, outlined in the Unity Institute online catalog, has a specific focus and requirements, though they both offer students the opportunity to gain greater spiritual understanding and development through the unique teachings of Unity. In addition, our new distance-learning courses provide greater flexibility for students pursuing graduate-level education from afar.
The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is a graduate degree and the Diploma in Unity Ministry is a non-credit, non-degree program open to those without a BA degree, who hold an approved Academic Demonstration.
For general information about these programs, please read the FAQs. If you need additional information, please contact the Unity Institute Admissions Representative at admissions@unityonline.org.

The Association of Unity Churches International governs the process of licensing and ordaining Unity ministers. Interviews for admission to the ordination path now take place twice a year. Graduation from Unity Institute does not guarantee licensing or ordination. Any person interested in becoming a licensed and ordained Unity minister should contact the credentialing registrar of the Association of Unity Churches International:

Degreed applicants for ordination may take classes at Unity Institute prior to acceptance into the ordination path; however, this is not recommended. Nondegreed applicants for ordination must be accepted into the ordination path prior to taking classes at Unity Institute. It is strongly suggested that potential applicants to the ordination path not make any major life changes until they have been admitted to the ordination path. It is also recommended that SEE program prerequisites be completed before taking Unity Institute classes.
Unity Institute welcomes applications from all people regardless of age, race, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or disabilities. Applications received are considered on an equal basis.
Applications for admission to the degree and certificate programs are accepted throughout the academic year. Each program has a different application process. Please consult the Unity Institute catalog for information about the admissions process for each program. Questions about admissions (or about taking courses without admission to a specific program) may be directed to the Unity Institute Admissions Representative at admissions@unityonline.org.
The Coordinating Board for Higher Education in the state of Missouri has granted Unity Institute and Seminary authority to award undergraduate and graduate degrees.
