PASSAGE: "You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways" (Job 22:28).

COMMENT: This passage is the culmination of a great description of spiritual process that begins with 22:21. Eliphaz, a friend of Job's, is responding to Job's complaints about his fate with a forceful call to abandon old thinking ("Will you keep to the old way that the wicked have trod?" v. 22:15) and embrace the power and goodness of the divine. The essential message is "Agree with God, and be at peace" (v.22:21). Instead of worrying about his material treasure, Job is urged to "treat gold like dust" and to realize that "the Almighty is your gold" (v. 22:24-25). When he is thus clearly and properly aligned with the energy of the divine, “light will shine on his ways.”

So, too, for us. When we release judgments based on material values and align ourselves with the Christ Presence of God within us, life simply works in a way that it cannot work if we insist on holding to old thinking and human values. The Christ is the creative power of God that is our true identity. When we allow it to guide our choices, we will experience divine love and abundance, choice by choice and decision by decision.

Blessings!
