PASSAGE: "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you" (John 15:7).
COMMENT: This statement is from Jesus' final discourse to his disciples, on the evening of his arrest. He is thus on the verge of his greatest possible demonstration of the power of the Christ—the energy of our Oneness with God that is the true identity of every person. It is as the Christ—Jesus the Christ—fully surrendered to, and expressive of, his own Christ nature, that Jesus speaks. Thus when he says (15:1) "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower," he is claiming that identity for the Christ. God is the Source—the vinegrower—and each of us is a vine, fully filled with the energy of life, love and infinite possibility that flow from the Source. And, in this sentence, it is in the Christ that we are called to abide. The creative promise is clear and unambiguous. If we abide in the Truth of the Christ at the soul of our being, and express that Christ energy into the world according to the words—the teachings—that Jesus Christ has left for us, then we are fully One with the creative Power of God, and our choices become creative choices that will become manifest in our mortal lives.
Blessings!
